What we do
The “German Online Platform for Global Health Protection (GO4GHP)” aims to enhance global health competency and capacity by providing its partners with: (i) a cost-efficient, scalable, and equitable digital learning infrastructure; (ii) competence-based, multilingual, peer-reviewed content; and, (iii) a secure educational technology.
More specifically, the objectives are:
- To deploy an innovative and tested digital training platform to complement, support, and connect partners' projects
- To raise awareness and enable cross-border knowledge exchange through digital global health learning content
- To facilitate networking to promote collaboration and coordination
- To ensure long-term sustainability and impact through maintaining a virtual learning environment, including a digital repository and an alumni portal

Who we are
The German Online Platform for Global Health Protection (GO4GHP) builds on the strong foundation of its predecessor, the German Online Platform for Biosecurity & Biosafety (GO4BSB). GO4BSB was established in 2016 within the framework of the German Biosecurity Programme funded by the German Federal Foreign Office to strengthen international capacities in biosecurity and biosafety through high-quality digital learning.
The founding partners of this platform represent leading German institutions in public health, research, and international cooperation: the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the Bundeswehr Institute for Microbiology (IMB), the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut (FLI), and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. Since its launch, the platform has been coordinated by the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine (BNITM).
Today, GO4GHP expands its remit beyond biosecurity and biosafety to address broader aspects of global health security. The platform continues to provide evidence-based, practice-oriented digital learning tailored to students, professionals, and institutions worldwide. It currently receives funding from the German Federal Ministry of Health within the framework of the Global Health Protection Programme (GHPP), the European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP), and the BNITM.
GO4GHP thus continues to contribute to strengthening competency and capacities for global health security, including pandemic preparedness, resilience, and response.
